MARILIE DANIELS

Writer. Creator. Host of What’s Your Ex?

I’m building a new chapter around writing, creating, meaningful conversations, and one question I keep coming back to: What happens to everything we’ve learned when a chapter of our life ends?

Through What’s Your Ex?, my podcast, YouTube channel, Project 180, newsletter, and upcoming book, I explore reinvention, identity, income, and what it looks like to build what comes next from what we already know.

HI, I’M MARILIE.

I’m a creator, entrepreneur, and host of the What’s Your Ex? podcast.

At 46, I made a pivot in the business I thought I would retire from.

That pivot changed the direction of my life and made me look at time, work, income, and what I wanted next very differently.

I had spent years being responsible, working, building, taking care of people, and doing what needed to be done. But I reached a point where I knew I wanted the next part of my life to look different.

I wanted to create.

I wanted to write.

I wanted to have meaningful conversations.

I wanted to explore what else I was capable of becoming.

And instead of waiting until I had the perfect plan, I decided to begin.

That decision became the beginning of what I’m building now.

WHY I CREATE FOR WOMEN 40+

At some point, many women begin wondering whether the biggest opportunities are already behind them.

I don’t believe they have to be.

By the time we reach our 40s and beyond, we’ve accumulated decades of experience, skills, lessons, relationships, resilience, and perspective.

That has value.

The question is what we decide to do with it.

Maybe you’re reconsidering your career.

Maybe you want to create another source of income.

Maybe you’ve spent years taking care of everyone else and you’re finally asking what you want.

Or maybe your life looks perfectly fine from the outside, but something inside you keeps saying:

There has to be more than this.

That’s the conversation I want to have.

Not about throwing your entire life away.

About looking at everything you’ve already lived, learned, and survived—and asking what you can build from here.

WHAT’S YOUR EX?

Your ex isn’t always a person.

It might be a career. A business. A dream. A title. A friendship. A role. Or a version of yourself you’ve outgrown.

What’s Your Ex? started with a question I couldn’t stop thinking about:

What happens to everything we’ve learned when a chapter ends?

I don’t believe the experience disappears with the ending.

The skills stay. The lessons stay. The perspective stays. Even some of the mistakes become useful.

That idea became What’s Your Ex?—a conversation about what we leave behind, what we carry forward, and what we build next.

I’M WRITING WHAT’S YOUR EX?

What’s Your Ex? began as a question during my own transition.

What happens to everything we’ve learned when a chapter ends?

The book explores the careers, dreams, identities, relationships, roles and versions of ourselves we outgrow—and how what those chapters gave us can become part of what we build next.

I’m writing it while I’m living through my own next chapter.

THE EX → THE + → THE NEXT

THE EX — What ended or changed?

THE + — What did it leave you with?

THE NEXT — What can you build from it now?

THE EX — The Podcast

Your reflective conversations about identity, relationships, confidence, career, dreams, old roles, and the chapters women outgrow.

THE + — Project 180

Your 180-day experiment in intentionally working on health, routines, confidence, relationships, home, creativity, income and the rest of your life while you are actually in the middle of change.

THE NEXT — Income, Digital Products & AI

Where you explore how experience, skills and knowledge can become new opportunities—and how AI can help you build, research, organize and create.

Newsletter

Writing has become one of the most important parts of this chapter for me.

Through my newsletter, I write about reinvention, starting before you feel ready, uncertainty, ambition, income, identity, and the experience of building something new in midlife.

Not from the perspective of someone standing at the finish line.

From the perspective of someone living it.

Daniels Publishing

Daniels Publishing is where I’m building books, guides, templates, and practical resources designed to help women turn ideas and experience into something they can actually use.

Some resources focus on digital products.

Some focus on AI and online tools.

Others are being created around the bigger questions of reinvention and building income differently.

My goal is simple: create resources that are clear enough that someone can finish reading and know what to do next.

I don’t believe AI replaces experience. I think it can help us do more with it.

PROJECT 180

On September 1, 2026, I started something I’m calling Project 180.

From September 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, I’m giving myself 180 days to intentionally work on the parts of my life that I know need my attention.

Income. Health. Routines. Confidence. Relationships. My home. And a few personal goals I’ve put off for longer than I’d like to admit.

Not because I expect my life to become perfect in 180 days.

I wanted to see what could change if I stopped waiting and started showing up consistently.

I’m documenting the process on YouTube with monthly updates.

I’M BUILDING THIS IN PUBLIC

I don’t have a story that begins with:

“I figured everything out, and now I’m going to teach you how.”

That isn’t where I am.

I’m building this chapter while I’m living it—writing the book, growing What’s Your Ex?, documenting Project 180, creating resources, experimenting with income ideas, and learning what actually works.

Some things will work.

Some won’t.

Some ideas will change completely.

I think there’s value in seeing the middle of the story—not only hearing from people once everything has worked out.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

I grew up in the Philippines with very little. We didn’t have electricity until I was about nine years old, and we didn’t have running water until I was sixteen.

Those early years shaped how I see opportunity, resilience, and what’s possible when you’re willing to imagine a life beyond the one you know.

As a young girl, I dreamed about living in America.

That dream eventually led me across the world, through different careers and experiences, and eventually to earning my MBA in the United States.

My life hasn’t followed one straight line.

Looking back, I’m grateful for that.

Every chapter gave me something I’m using now.

And that may be one of the biggest things I’ve learned:

You don’t have to erase the person you used to be in order to become someone new.

START WITH WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW

One of the biggest ideas behind my work is that you probably have more to work with than you think.

Years of work.

Life experience.

Skills.

Problems you’ve solved.

Things people constantly ask you for help with.

Knowledge that feels ordinary to you because you’ve lived with it for years.

Those things can become the starting point for something new.

That’s why I created the Midlife Income Map.

It’s a free resource designed to help you look at what you already know and begin identifying possible ways to turn that experience into income.

You’re not starting from zero.

You’re starting with experience.

LET’S STAY CONNECTED

If you’re somewhere in the middle of your own transition, you’re welcome here.

You don’t need the next five years figured out.

You don’t need to reinvent your entire life tomorrow.

Sometimes you simply need to recognize what your last chapter gave you—and take the next step with it.
